- GP Joule’s new Blackhall Solar Farm could revolutionize clean energy – help the nation reach its renewable energy target and make a lasting impact.
GP Joule’s proposed Blackhall Solar Farm, if approved, could help to contribute to the nation’s renewable energy target.
Will Blackhall Solar Farm Help Reach Renewable Energy Target?
- GP Joule’s proposed Blackhall Solar Farm project, located in the West Berkshire Council district, is estimated to have a capacity of up to 24.9 megawatts of electricity.
- If approved, the project would generate enough energy to meet the electricity needs of more than 4,500 households.
- The solar farm is part of GP Joule’s larger portfolio of renewable energy projects, which includes wind turbines, biogas plants and solar roof installations.
- GP Joule estimates that the Blackhall Solar Farm will reduce the local council’s carbon dioxide emissions by about 10,000 tonnes per year.
- The project will also create up to 16 jobs during construction and two permanent jobs once the solar farm is operational.
- In addition, GP Joule has proposed a community benefit scheme that will provide funding to help local schools and community groups purchase renewable energy equipment.
- As the UK government has set a target of producing 30% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, the Blackhall Solar Farm could help the nation reach this goal.
